Math —> Paths to contentment

Do you ever get the feeling that math is really fun, until you reach a piece of content matter you don’t understand. Then math isn’t fun anymore and you long for the times when it was fun and for the next time it will be fun.

On that note, why is anything fun; besides the fact that you are good at it, or have the ability to learn to be good at it without undue strife? Why do people attempt to do things that are too difficult for them? The fact is that they don’t. I believe that people naturally gravitate towards tasks that are easy for them. No one wants to fail.

This is not to put a put-down on learning, no, because learning and accomplishing tasks is rewarding, if you are naturally inclined towards such tasks. I don’t know how to play guitar, but learning it would be rewarding for me since I am already very musically inclined. Learning to ice skate however, would not be so, since I have weak ankles.
